Governor Ethan H. Sawyer UC, CS, CMM, DVC, MM, MLC (July 5, 1840–October 19, 1915) was a politician, military officer, and civil rights activist. He served as Governor of the Utah Territory from 1869–1876, Governor of Utah from 1877–1885, General of the West from 1865–1869 and 1885–1887, and a Member of the Legislative Council of Utah from 1894–1912.
