The Government Act, 1876, later known as Constitution Act, 1876, would provide the framework for the Constitution of Utah and submit it to the United States Congress for ratification, which it would be on May 31, 1876.
The Act established the bicameral system the Utah Territory would use from 1876–1883. The Act would form the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly.
